Three itineraries to help you see Paris in a different light

The routine of everyday life sometimes changes how we perceive our surroundings by cloaking them in the conventional. However, as we start this new year, we’ve decided that we’re going to rediscover the sometimes hidden wonders of the places where we live…are you ready to be amazed? Just follow the guide.

In pursuit of picture-postcard perfection: wandering through Paris’ own little villages

When we think about the City of Lights, what comes to mind first is its joie de vivre and frenetic pace of life (admittedly, a little less frenetic during lockdown). However, for those who know where to look (and know how to appreciate it), it’s possible to find that very special village vibe, worthy of the most picturesque settlements in the French countryside, right in the heart of the capital. If you fancy getting away from it all without having to take the Paris-Gargilesse train, why not opt for a gentle ride through these four Parisian ‘villages’!

Want to travel back in time? Let history whisper to you against a lush-green backdrop

Settle back into a journey through royalty, art and history. We’ll whisk you off to Rueil-Malmaison with its beautiful scenery and riverside location, a never-ending source of artistic inspiration for some of the world’s most famous artists: the island of the Île de Chatou, the Parc des Impressionnistes the Maison Fournaise. This history-themed bicycle ride ends on a high at the château Malmaison in the footsteps of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais, Napoleon Bonaparte’s (only?) true love.

Missing art exhibitions? Why not explore your very own open-air street-art gallery?

Whilst we’re waiting for art venues to re-open, why don’t you head for this very special kind of gallery? It’s one that can’t close because it’s open to everyone as they pass through the streets of Vitry-sur-Seine: pedal along and enjoy street-art work galore! Alain Bernard, ROA, the SWM collective…the list of urban artists whose work appears on the walls of the town is an impressive one. We promise that you’ll be blown away – you’ll come back from your ride as if you’ve just returned from your favourite gallery!
